Coronis Agathon: After the Fall of Cadia

Turmoil on Coronis Agathon

The destruction of Cadia and the following cataclysm that tore the known space asunder, literally severing one half of the Imperium from the other was one that few had been prepared for. The Fortress World of Coronis Agathon were dealt a supreme blow. Not by chaos marines, ork raiding parties or the thievery of a random awakened necron tomb. Not by a hive fleet nor the schemes of xenos and their webway gates. But a morale blow. Many of the guard regiments stationed there, in the past few years, especially the Cadians, grew increasingly wary due to the lack of communication.

Steadily the will of many men and women faltered. The commissars did their part keeping them in check of course, now more than ever. But even the most capable of overseers, a wary eye always open to heresy, were not able to cover the huge population of the industrial, military planet. A section fell. Then another. Then a third and a fourth. And before long, the planet plunged into disarray with more and more renegades rising up from the ranks, slitting the throats of their former comrades in their sleep and turning against the Holy Will of the Emperor. Lasting friendships were forsaken and the loyalties of many were tested.

A total of 11 guard regiments currently stationed on the Planet have forsaken their oaths and thus decided to begin their journey down a darker path. Disorganized but mustering more to their twisted cause by the day, these heretics are to be exterminated and a planet-wide state of war has been declared against the growing incursions.

Regimental Headquarters of the Cadian 401st Armored Regiment has issued this statement to it's active members:

Without a shadow of doubt, the Emperor has willed it upon us and our loyal brethren, to take the fight,
to them, whose minds be tainted by the allure of Chaos,
to them, whose souls be blighted by daemons,
to them, whose hearts have faltered when met with strife,
to them, whose hands have dared take up arms against the righteous subjects of our God-Emperor.

We call upon you now, brave soldiers of the Four hundred and first Armored Regiment,
support your fellow Infantry Regiment in storming the battlefield with unrivaled superiority,
support your fellow Artillery Regiment in bathing their trenches with their own blood,
support your fellow Mechanized Regiment in maintaining the supply lines,
support your fellow Siege Regiment in storming their shattered keeps.

And above all else, guide the Emperor's blessed shells to the heart of the enemy armor.
Let them know, that there is no protection against the might of those, whose faith has overcome the trials He has bestowed upon them.

Loyal Regiments within Province Sector Luciria Largentia:

- 1105th Infantry Regiment: A regiment composed of roughly 100 000, who have shown upstanding commitment to their duty. It is believed that not a single guardsman has given way to doubt. As such, this regiment has been present within the thick of every skirmish against the traitor guards. Their numbers have, as a result, been dwindling at an uncomfortable pace but their Regimental Command insists that they are to participate in as many battles as possible and lead by example

- 768th Light Infantry Regiment: A regiment composed of only 7 000 men, but one that has proven highly effective in their battlefield presence. Their sniper cadre has eliminated numerous high value targets within traitor ranks, reportedly to have managed to get them even within heavily fortified areas. And to that end, this regiment has suffered nearly no losses at the same time. Their recon operations have proven invaluable.

- 562nd Artillery Regiment: A regiment composed of 34 000 men and incharge of Luciria's mainline defense. Utilizing the intel provided by the 768th, their strikes have been very effective even from extreme range. Still, the counter battery has lessened the number of soldiers on active duty by over 10 000 which has heavily crippled the regiment's operations. Currently they only carry on shelling operations when counterbattery is almost guaranteed to be out of commission.

- 333rd Siege Regiment: A regiment composed of roughly 400 000 men, who has endured tremendous losses thus far. Miscommunication and mistimed assaults have led to the loss of a third of its active forces and they have chosen to, much like the Artillery regiment, provide a more defensive role even if this is not their specialty. Still, the thought to preserve their remaining troops may come in handy when laying an actual siege against traitor regimental keeps.

- 401st Armored Regiment: A detachment of a mere 2 Leman Russ tanks has been sent, but with their lines stretched thin, the Armored Regiment is lending help on multiple fronts. The present Guard have accepted the support, even if more wouldn't have hurt.

--------------

Traitor Regiments within Province Sector Luciria Largentia:

- Khorne's Bloody Bayonet: A mixed regiment composed of over 500 000 traitor guardsmen, believed to have sworn loyalty to the Blood God Khorne as their namesake implies. Despite their huge numbers, atleast compared to the loyal guard legions, these soldiers seem to have thrown caution out of the wind and been throwing themselves at fortified positions daily. Still, after losing a decent chunk of troops, they have taken to more reasonable strategies, such as maintaining trench warfare. Their invigorated melee prowess has made it very difficult for the 1105th to engage them on even footing however, as their charge has proven incredibly fierce.

- Righteous Shells: A mixed regiment composed of about 200 000 traitor guardsmen, with varying faiths. These men seem to bolster incredibly high morale, believing themselves righteous in this conflict. What is noteworthy is their incredibly well organized nature, leading the 768th to believe that their Headquarters is still operational and leading them, likely even providing a voice of reason for the Bloody Bayonet. These traitors have been incredibly cautious and thus sustained very few losses. Their fortress is the former headquarters of the 466th Heavy Infantry Regiment, and they do well to justify the notion that said regiment lies in their heart, due to their use of support weaponry and entrenchment.
